Even though the World Health Organization has designated infertility as a disease, only sixteen states in the U.S. currently offer some degree of mandated insurance coverage for infertility patients.
However, with unemployment at near record lows, employers who fail to provide adequate medical benefits coverage, including infertility and fertility preservation treatments, may find themselves on the losing end of employee retention.
